Local-first meeting notes app (whisper.cpp + Ollama)
What they built
AI Meeting Notes records a meeting, transcribes and summarizes it 100% locally, and saves a Markdown note plus audio to a folder you choose. If that folder is in an Obsidian vault, you get inline audio players and queryable frontmatter.
Setup
- macOS app (recommended); Windows builds paused
- whisper.cpp for transcription
- Ollama for summaries (Claude API optional, with your own key)
How it works
- Mic and system audio are captured as two separate tracks via Core Audio process taps, with no virtual audio device
- Each track goes through whisper.cpp and is merged by timestamp into a speaker-labeled transcript
- A local Ollama model writes summary, topics and action items
- The Markdown note and audio land in your folder
“Your audio never leaves your machine.”— AI Meeting Notes README
Do it yourself
- Install Ollama and pull a summary model
- Download the signed macOS .dmg from the project site
- Point the notes folder at a directory (optionally your Obsidian vault)
- Record, then review the generated note
